The Coalition promised $100,000 towards a roof for the school’s basketball court on Tuesday, several weeks after Premier Daniel Andrews announced $150,000 for a similar project.
Candidates for Bendigo East and Bendigo West Gaelle Broad, Ian Ellis and Kevin Finn joined Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell for the Coalition announcement on Tuesday as heavy rain kept children indoors and away from the basketball court.
Epsom Primary School council president Scott Jefferis said it was the perfect example of why the roof was needed the area.
Nationals candidate for Bendigo East Gaelle Broad said Labor “have been in power for 15 of 19 years” and should have funded the project earlier.
“Right before an election we’re seeing announcements that could have been made and could have been funded a very long time ago,” she said.
Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said the Coalition had “short changed” Epsom Primary School.
