STRATHFIELDSAYE’S Abe Sheahan and Connor Lyon put on a batting clinic in last Saturday’s BDCA under-18 match against Golden Square as they each notched centuries.
Opener Sheahan batted through the Jets’ 50-over innings, carrying his bat in making an unbeaten 144 off 167 balls.
Sheahan struck eight boundaries and one six in his big morning at the Tannery Lane crease.
Meanwhile, Lyon scored at better than a run-a-ball in belting 109 off 87 in an innings that was laced with 13 boundaries.
Together Sheahan and Lyon – both right-handers – shared in an unbroken partnership of 236.
They began their stand with top-of-the-ladder Strathfieldsaye 2-68 and by the end of the innings had lifted the Jets to a mammoth 2-304.
“Abe had to really knuckle down for the first hour or so against some really good bowling,” Jets under-18 coach Tim Rodda said.
“He got through a really tough period and then batted absolutely superbly… it was a really classy knock.
“Connor never looked in any trouble from the first ball he faced and summed the game up beautifully in the way he attacked.”
