Kids will gather for the first Burra Comp Day on which will see skateboarders, and scooters and BMX riders show off their skill.
Keen skateboarders Tyson and Caleb from Eaglehawk Secondary have worked hard organising the event on Saturday, November 3.
Both in Year 10, they had been skating for years, and thought it’d be a good idea for McKern Skate Park to host its own competition day.
Eaglehawk skate shop owner Albert ‘Skip’ Skipper said organising the event had been a great way for teenagers to build confidence.
“It’s actually not about the skating,” Mr Skipper said.
“It’s about these kids who can do really good things, and building up their confidence.
“These kids, they get this sort of bad rap, and they want to prove to people that we’ve got really good stuff going on.”
Organised by Eaglehawk kids, the event is being supported by Bendigo Blue Light.
The day will have two categories of competition: 16 years and under, and 17 to 25 years. Registration opens at 10am and the competition will begin at 10am.
