A five-time NBL assists leader and 2013 NBL MVP, Jackson arrived at the Hawks this season with an impressive resume.

He spearheaded the New Zealand Breakers to three NBL titles, capturing Finals MVP honours on two occasions.

Jackson started slowly this season, making just 23.5 per cent of his shots and tallying 11 points in his first two games - both Hawks losses.

But after posting 12 points on 5/10 shots and dishing out five assists in last week's road win over Cairns, the 32-year-old playmaker was equally effective with 11 points on 5/9 shooting in Saturday night's 86-78 home victory over Brisbane.

Beveridge insisted Jackson's job was safe.

"We love Cedric. The guy's a competitor, a winner everywhere he's gone," Beveridge said.

"People look at the Cedric Jackson that won three championships and was the superstar, but he doesn't have to be that.

"We've told him that he's part of the team, he's not getting fired and there's zero pressure on him. We've got his back."

The Hawks are seeking a third straight win when they face titleholders Melbourne United on Monday night in Melbourne.

"We're going after them. It's almost a free hit," Beveridge said.

"The whole focus was on Brisbane. But now we shift that focus and go and have a crack at Melbourne.

"I'm so excited about the group because we have so much growth potential. I look at us and we're just scratching the surface right now.

"It's a long season and when we jell we're going to be very, very good.

"We've got so many pieces to the puzzle."

Brisbane expect to have a replacement for axed import Alonzo Gee signed next week.

"We were already in the marketplace," Bullets coach Andrej Lemanis said.

"Hopefully we'll get something across the line in next couple of days, and then we need to assess from that what we might want to add."
