We delved into the archives to find out what Bendigo’s heritage buildings looked like back in the day.
It’s a fine collection of architecture, mixing gold rush buildings with early 20th century styles.
Bendigo’s architecture hasn’t dropped in standard.
Whether it’s an miners cottage that manages to meld a modern layout with a style sympathetic to the original design, or a cleancut open plan home cleverly laid out on a small site, or Bendigo’s oldest known house that has been a boarding house, offices and even a brothel in its day, it’s sure to stand out.
Not all of these buildings are open for Open House Bendigo, but those that are are certainly worth a look.
