The $32.2 million health facility will officially open to the public this weekend.
It features a 50m, eight-lane swimming pool, beach entry leisure pool, a learn-to-swim pool, splash park, warm water exercise pool and spas, a steam room and sauna, a gym and group fitness rooms, a childcare and multipurpose room, health and wellness centre and a cafe.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Margaret O’Rourke said the project had been several years in the making but the end result was an amazing outcome.
“Gurri Wanyarra is an incredible one-stop-shop for recreation, health and wellbeing. It caters for people of all ages and abilities,” she said.
“It was originally going to be a 25m pool but following community advocacy it became a 50m pool. However, today we are celebrating the completion of much more than a pool.”
