The Blues Boot Camp is a two-day work shop that gives musicians aged between 12 and 25 theoretical and practical music industry skills from trained and experienced music industry professionals.

​BBRMF director Colin Thompson said bringing the boot camp to the festival was a real coup.

“It's a great program for young players. We've been in talks with (Blues Boot Camp director) Wayne Jury for the last couple years,” Thompson said.

“Blues Boot Camp has been hailed for what it's done to support and launch young players in Echuca as part of Echuca Winter Blues Festival, Geelong, Melbourne, and now Bendigo. 

“All we need now is the young players out there to jump on our website and take advantage of the opportunity to learn from sensational mentors.”

Forty spots are available for the boot camp which ends with a finale performance on The Capital stage on Friday at 7pm.

Thompson said he hopes to fill all 40 spots and continue the growth in youth participation at the BBRMF.

“As we've gone on, more and more young people have gotten involved at every level. From artists to volunteers and crew,” he said.

“One of the most important aspects of our mission statement is to pay live music forward to future generations as a pastime, as a passion and as a potential career, so we're pretty proud of what we've achieved so far.”

Now in its eighth year, Thompson said 155 acts will perform at this year’s festival including 60 newcomers to the four-day event.

“We're excited for everyone to make a ton of discoveries yet again,” he said.

“A couple of our internationals I strongly suggest catching are FU-CHING-GIDO from Japan and Tennyson King from Canada. We've got a massive amount of interstate acts as well this year, with artists from every state and territory.”
