Australian Samantha Harris scored her best win of the year when she defeated Kayla McPhee in the opening round of the Bendigo International on Tuesday.

Harris’ upset 3-6 6-2 7-6 win earnerd her a place in the second round of a Pro Tour event for the first time this year.
Harris, who doesn’t hold a world ranking, came from a set down against the 357th-ranked McPhee and will now play eighth-seed Lizette Cabrera.
Cabrera proved too strong for Ballarat’s Zoe Hives 6-3 6-4.
In the other round one matches played on Tuesday, Great Britain’s Katy Dunne rallied from one set down to defeat Jappan’s Miyu Kato 3-6 6-3 6-2, while sixth-seeded Australian Destanee Aiava had to work hard to outlast 2016 Bendigo International champion Risa Ozaki 6-4 7-6.
The tournament favorites hit the court on Wednesday in the remainder of the round one matches.
Number one seed Arina Rodionova plays in the match of the day against China’s Shilin Xu, who recently won the Brisbane Pro Tour event.
Second seed Olivia Rogowska is first-up on court three against Aussie youngster Abbie Myers.
Sara Tomic, the younger sister of Aussie tennis star Bernard Tomic, is first-up on court two against fellow Australian Isabelle Wallace.
