All under-16A, under-16B, under-14A and under-14B matches finished in a draw after day two was washed out.
The highlight of the opening round of the under-16A division was Bailey Dunn’s 89 not out for Strathdale-Maristians. Dunn smashed 14 fours and one six in his 70-ball knock.
Maiden Gully’s Eli Pearce had impressive bowling figures of 4-16 in his side’s clash with Golden Square. Jack Keating made 34 not out in the Bulldogs’ total of 136.
Bendigo United's Hugh Freckleton belted 60 off 38 balls in the Redbacks’ match with Strathfieldsaye. Luke Rodda took 3-18 for the Jets.
In under-14A, the best performers with the bat were Bendigo United’s Harrison Boyd (36 nout out), Bendigo United Redbacks’ Wil Pinniger (31 not out) and Huntly-North Epsom’s Judd Gilchrist (27 not out).
Strathfieldsaye’s Callum Bolton had the best bowling figures in under-14A, with 3-7 off two overs. Gilchrist capped a good game for HNE with 2-3 off two overs.
Sunday’s round two matches in the under-12A competition went ahead.
Harvey White belted 40 not out off 21 balls to lead Eaglehawk to victory over Bendigo.
Other good performances with the bat came from Kangaroo Flat’s Noah Cain (25 not out) and Strathdale-Maristians’ Louis Eddy (21).
Several bowlers took two wicket-hauls in the one-day matches, with Bendigo United’s Noah Willits and Strathfieldsaye’s Archie Stevens both taking 2-0.
