BENDIGO Special Developmental School will create an outdoor sensory space, having been announced as the recipient of a $171,000 grant.
The state government announced the school in Kangaroo Flat as one of 93 recipients of funding to build for all-access play areas.
The Inclusive Schools Fund recipients will receive a share of the $15 million announced in the latest round of funding.
Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards said the funding would make a real difference to Bendigo Special Developmental School and other schools throughout the state.
“These projects are all about giving our primary schools the equipment and infrastructure they need to inspire a lifelong passion for learning for all of their students and to show that disability isn’t a barrier to learning and achieving,” Ms Edwards said.
Other grant recipients included Specimen Hill Primary School, which was awarded $200,000 to build a sensory garden designed for students with autism spectrum disorder.
