Around 300 rowing athletes will meet at Lake Weeroona to compete in over 100 race events.
Bendigo Rowing Club head coach Tess Forest said the BRC crews should perform “strongly”.
“Our youth academy is training hard under the guidance of ex-British Olympic rowing coach Richard Hamilton, and we have several crews which should be in medal contention,” Forest said.
“Our young women’s squad comprising of Indiana Crone, Livia Rosaia, Neve Coleman, Mikhayla Oxley and coxed by Aedan Hamilton are fit, confident and determined to do well.
“Our under-15 male squad of Gideon Fisher, Alex Carr, Wilson Robertson and Bailey Dalton are also primed to compete in their first major state regatta.”
Meaghan Lowndes and Bill Barton will also represent the BRC in sculling events.
Two of the BRC’S former rowers who served in World War II will be remembered at Saturday’s regatta.
The inaugural Jack Butt-Harold Griffiths Trophy will be presented to the fastest crew competing in the male open double scull event.
BRC president Jesse Sherwood said the trophy was “a fitting way” to remember two influential club members.
“Both men sustained a deep love and commitment for the Bendigo Rowing Club,” Sherwood said.
“Rowing together helped shape their young lives and forged that unique Australian spirit of mateship. This trophy will ensure that Jack Butt and Harold Griffiths are never forgotten.”
The Bendigo Sprint Regatta commences at 8am on Saturday at Lake Weeroona and races are scheduled in four minute intervals.
