California Gully dead trees a real concern
As we walk through the grounds of the California Gully Oval, bordered buy Nelson and Chappele Streets, we are amazed at the amount of dead trees and branches, which would tally at least ten full grown trees and they are all dead.

There seems to have been no effort to cut them down.
This area is used for people walking dogs, riding bikes and just people in general walking. There is also part of an old BMX track that kids still use.
It is a community oval that is used for junior football and cricket.
We are concerned as a person was killed in Rosalind Park from a falling tree.
With the high winds and dry conditions it’s a real hazard.

Organ donar advert ‘extremely distasteful’
As a God fearing, bible believing, Jesus loving, spirit filled, speaking in tongues, born again Christian, I find the organ donor ad extremely distasteful and insulting to my beliefs.
As a Christian I will continue to remain a donor, because of the hope my organs may give to another person, in spite of the religous intolerance and stupidy of the ignorant advertising agency.

First Nation’s treaty body submissions call
The good news is that we are closer than ever to achieving what is 200 years overdue.
But there is much work to do before First Nations treaties can be negotiated in Victoria.
At the moment, there is no framework for negotiations. There are no “ground rules” - questions like who can negotiate, and what scope it can include, are unanswered.
We need these resolved in order to take treaties forward.
As Treaty Advancement Commissioner, it is my role to establish an Aboriginal Representative Body which will set these “ground rules” in partnership with the Victorian Government.
The experience of First Nations peoples in Canada, over the past 25 years, shows just how crucial the framework will be.
The Commission has released a proposed representative body model. It would involve 28 traditional owners.
To be clear – the group’s main function will be to lay the groundwork for treaties to be negotiated.
The easiest way to get the facts, and share feedback, is via our website (victreatyadvancement.org.au). People can also phone us on 1800 TREATY.
Submissions on the proposed model for the Aboriginal Representative Body close on 28 October.
Jill Gallagher AO, Victorian Treaty Advancement Commissioner
