“It will be impressive,” 16-year-old Holmes said. “It's like nothing that has happened in Bendigo.
“There's projections, music, choirs, dancing, cheerleading, percussion on the poppet head. Everything working together will be amazing for people to see.
“It gets tricky with the elements. When it's windy, the screens blow in and out, and with the rain it’s so slippery. You have to be aware of (a lot of) aspects.”
Frochot-Chauhan said with so many people involved in different areas, it made for a very different type of performance.
“It's a very different process,” she said. “There’s projections, sound, artists and ground crew. There's so many people involved apart from the aerials.
“It is exciting to work like that, I like it.”
Both Bendigo performers have enjoyed their training and rehearsal time with Poppet Bendigo.
Holmes, who has a background in rockclimbing, dance and gymnastics, didn’t know what to expect.
“It's so random, dancing on a wall with a rope, but once I got up there I found I could do a fair bit, so I was inspired after that,” she said.
“Aerial dancing is a mix between the rockclimbing and dance, which is a bit different.”
Frochot-Chauhan owns local business Z Fit Studios and was eager to get involved.
“There is a lot of community groups involved and as soon as we saw there were going to be aerialists on the poppet head, Z Fit wanted to be a part of it,” she said.
Newstead’s Vanessa Case was also impressed with how much the community had been engaged by ACT Natimuk.
“It’s wonderful to see local talents involved,” she said.
“I was reflecting on other performing arts companies comingand doing theri thing but not really engaging a community. This has really built skills in locals.”
Poppet Bendigo is a free show on at 8pm this Saturday in Rosalind Park.
