After making half-century in round one of Victoria Premier Cricket, the former White Hills star smashed 53 off 46 balls in Carlton’s round two loss to Melbourne University.
Stepien hit eight fours and one six in his whirlwind knock.
Stepien’s team-mate Xavier Crone had good figures of 1-36 off 10 overs.
The Bendigo duo had little impact in Sunday’s round three win over Ringwood. Stepien made one an Crone was wicketless.
Liam Bowe, James Seymour and Isaac Conway helped Essendon’s first XI to two wins at the weekend.
Seymour (3-24) and Bowe (2-29) put Dandenong in a spin on Saturday as the Bombers cruised to a 59-run win. Wicket-keeper Conway took one catch and completed one stumping.
In Sunday’s win over Greenvale, Seymour took 2-37 and Bowe 1-46.
Ryan Hartley had a mixed weekend with Prahran first XI.
The former Huntly-North Epsom keeper/batsman made a brisk 12 off 11 balls to help Praharan sneak over the line against Casey-South Melbourne.
On Sunday, Prahran suffered a 112-run loss to Footscray. Hartley made eight.
Former Sandhurst all-rounder Todd Murphy helped St Kilda first XI to two wins.
Murphy wasn’t required to bat as the Saints posted 4-252 against Geelong. He did his job with the ball by taking 1-38 off 10 overs, with his first wicket at that level the prized scalp of Cats’ skipper Eamonn Vines.
Murphy’s good form with the ball continued on Sunday when he took 2-35 in St Kilda’s 51-run win over Camberwell Magpies.
This Saturday marks the start of Premier Cricket two-day fixtures.
Stepien and Crone will go head-to-head with Bowe, Seymour and Conway when Carlton hosts Essendon.
