Investigators have been told the victim, a 22-year-old White Hills man, was driving his red Ford sedan along Grenfell Avenue at about 9.10pm.
He pulled over to the side of the road for a moment near Finch Avenue when an unknown man approached the vehicle.
The man produced a knife through the window and demanded the victim’s car keys and possessions.
The victim managed to drive away, and was not injured in the incident.
Police say the offender seemed to be Caucasian in appearance, about 180 centimetres tall, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, with medium-length hair and a bushy goatee.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with information, who witnessed the incident, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
