It was established in 1855 to protect the tights of individuals who had travelled from across the globe to share in the wealth of the newly discovered Victorian goldfields.
Yet it is now being used to divide Victorians by race.
Let me start by saying that I encourage the Dja Dja Wurrung people of central Victoria to appreciate and enjoy their heritage.
But I must ask, why does enjoying your heritage mean that prospectors are to be denied ours?

Prospectors have been searching these areas for almost 170 years, of recent years with great care and respect for the natural environment.
Now there are plans to exclude recreational prospecting from yet another 13,500 hectares of our traditional areas based on the unlikely potential disturbance of an aboriginal relic.
If this is accepted by the minister, the ramifications for all activities on public land across the state are considerable.
Unfortunately, the Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio will not meet with us to discuss this matter. The chair of the board preparing the plan has also refused to meet to discuss a fair outcome to suit all, so we are forced to go public.
Universal suffrage was also established because of the early prospectors uprising at Eureka. This is not the democracy they fought for.

What does the sell-off mean long term?
When living above our means and running short of cash, we have to sell some of our assets, or get a loan.
While we still have some assets (that are attractive to other countries) left, our credit rating is high.
The sell-off keeps increasing.
Yet some people are not happy and demanding more money and better living conditions.
What will the living standard be like, if Australia becomes dominated by the overpopulated countries?
