The Douglas-trained and driven Skippy Rascal ($7.20) broke a long run of outs to snatch victory in the $10,000 Hero Claiming Pace (1720m).
It was the nine-year-old pacer’s first win for Douglas, who acquired the gelding mid-year form his former New South Wales trainer Callan Suvaljko.
It was also Skippy Rascal’s first win since his triumph at Gloucester Park last December.
The much-travelled pacer has now won 19 races and been placed 26 times in 162 career starts.
It was Douglas’ third winner this week following the success of Easton Foxglove at Maryborough last Tuesday and The High Roller at Maryborough on Monday.
