The latest performance figures show 89.7 per cent of services arrived at their destination on time in September, making it the best performing month since October 2017.
V/Line CEO James Pinder said delivering a fourth consecutive month of punctuality improvement on the line was really pleasing.
“Improving our performance has been a key focus and it’s great to see continued improvements on the Bendigo line,” he said.
“It was one of the top performing lines on the regional network for the month and another positive step towards achieving our target of 92 per cent.”
Mr Pinder said the new V/Line timetable introduced at the end of August has helped improve performance.
“Some of the changes we made in the August timetable are having great flow on effects to the Bendigo line, particularly in the morning peak where we’ve seen a significant improvement,” he said.
The main causes for delays to Bendigo line services last month were:
- Trespassing incidents which held trains up until they were given the all clear
- Trains stopping longer than the time allocated in the timetable
- And delays in the shared section of the metropolitan network
The Bendigo line also had a positive month for reliability, with 98.8 per cent of services delivered in September, which was up on the August result and exceeds V/Line’s target.
Across the network for September, a total of 88.2 per cent of services arrived at their destination on time and Mr Pinder said it was the highest punctuality result in almost two years.
