The first burn will be conducted in the Redcastle Greytown State Forest near Rushworth.
Three burns will take place around Maryborough: the first on Thursday at Mosquito Track, 4.5 kilometres south-east of Maryborough, the second on Friday at Station Lane, 9.7 kilometres south-west of the town, and another 2.5 kilometres south-west at Derby Road on Saturday.
If conditions are suitable on Friday, FFM Victoria will carry out a burn at Inglewood Reservoir.
“The aim of conducting the burns is to reduce the overall fuel hazard within the burn area and in turn, provide added protection from bushfire to neighbouring communities,” FFM Victoria’s district manager Paul Bates said.
“These burns are part of an integrated plan to reduce bushfire risk to people, property and highly valued assets.
“They aim to reduce the speed and intensity of future bushfires.”
