Leading Senior Constable Pat Allan says there were no serious injuries, though a pregnant woman who had been driving in the blue vehicle has been taken to hospital for observation.
He said the male driver would be investigated for careless driving.
The road was expected to reopen shortly.
Update: 3.15pm
A 38-year-old driver was travelling north when his blue and white vehicle veered into the south-bound lane, according to Leading Senior Constable Pat Allan said.
That car collided with a blue vehicle driven by a 24-year-old pregnant woman.
Earlier
POLICE, paramedics and firefighters are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash in North Bendigo.
Prouses Road is closed between the Holmes Road intersection and Norfolk Street as emergency services attend.
Traffic is being diverted away from the scene.
Multiple ambulance units have turned out to the crash.
