Masons of Bendigo, The Public Inn in Castlemaine and Kyneton’s Source Dining and Midnight Starling were all named among the best restaurants in regional Victoria.
For Sonia and Nick Anthony and their team at Masons of Bendigo, it is the third year they have retained their chefs hat.
“There’s always a bit of stress and worrying about whether you’re to get it again or lose it. It plays on your mind a bit,” she said.
“I think having an amazing team is paramount. As is the support of our family, we couldn’t do it without them.
“We just have to make sure that we are ensuring what we do, we do consistently well and that everyone has an amazing experience and wants to come back.
“We always work hard to try and evolve, get better what we do, take on feedback and try and improve. But all starts with fantastic team.”
In retaining, Masons of Bendigo’s chefs hat, Mrs Anthony said hospitality is all about keeping people happy and ensuring they have a good time.
“On a panel a couple years ago, one reviewers said, for them, the purpose of the guide is to provide snapshot of what that dining experience looks like,” she said.
“I think keeping yourself contemporary and doing the best you can plays a part in being recognised.”
Mrs Anthony, who also sits on the board of Bendigo Tourism, said it was fantastic to have a number of restaurants recognised.
“It’s beneficial for a region have good representation so that people make the decision hope in the car or on a train and come visit us. That’s important,” she said.
“We want people to come here and spend in other places (in the region). So it’s an absolutely benefit to have good representation in that food guide.”
