Two women and three children sleeping in a Cornish Street house were woken by a loud bang at 2.15am.
Police found a hole in a wall consistent with a bullet.
No one was injured in the incident.
Bendigo Police are investigating the incident with assistance from a ballistics team in Melbourne.
Police say the incident appears to be isolated, as there have been no others in the area.
