Moroney, 69, appeared at Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Monday to face a total of 25 charges, which police will apply to have uplifted to the County Court.

He allegedly sexually assaulted patients at the Ely Street Clinic between April and October 2017.

Charges reveal he is facing seven allegations of touching or penetrating women’s genitals without consent, the digital penetration of a child under 16 who was under his care, and three allegations of touching women’s breasts in a sexual nature.

Moroney has also been accused of producing child pornography by producing 13 images of a child who appears to be under 18 and engaging in an indecent sexual nature.

There were also 10 charges of visually capturing women’s genitals without their knowledge and instructing a female under 16 to remove her clothing before covertly photographing her genitals.

Police investigators in June said they were talking to 19 women from the Wangaratta area who were potential victims.

Moroney was initially charged on June 11, before extra charges were filed with the court on September 13.

The first woman to report the alleged sexual assault in October said the doctor allegedly conducted a female health test without wearing gloves and she saw camera equipment in the room.

Moroney appeared briefly in court on Monday, supported by a woman, but did not say anything during the short hearing.

The case was adjourned for a committal mention on February 14.

Moroney refused to make any comments as he left court and will remain on bail until his next appearance.

He had previously told the media he would fight the sexual assault allegations.
