The 22-year-old finished in a tie for seventh at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The Neangar Park product pocketed a cheque for $176,034.21 AUD and lifted his status in the Race to Dubai rankings to 50th.
With two events remaining, Herbert is now all but guaranteed a berth in the European Tour’s lucractive end of season finals series for the top 60 ranked golfers.
While other players fell away in cold and blustery conditions at St Andrews on Sunday, Herbert flourished.
He had four birdies and two bogeys in a two-under par 70 to finish tied with two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka.
The top-10 finish also secured Herbert a place in this week’s British Masters in England.
He’ll take on a high-class field, including world number one Justin Rose and Europe’s Ryder Cup hero Francesco Molinari.
