The music talent show sees music hopefuls sing in front of 100 judges from all areas of the music industry.
Irish-born Farrell was selected for the show because of her unique career description of being a wedding celebrant who also provides music for brides as they walk down the aisle.
“I only sing as the bride walks down the aisle, not through the ceremony,” Farrell clarified to the Bendigo Advertiser.
“I also sing from the side of the room. I’m not standing next to the groom. often people don’t realise I am the celebrant until the ceremony actually starts.”
Prior to helping couples get hitched, Farrell was part of central Victorian band Irish Rose.
“I have been a marriage celebrant for nearly four years and have been really busy with it. I’m getting married myself in four-and-a-half weeks and still doing weddings,” she said.
“Ever since I was in school I have sang. When I was 18 I tried out for the X Factor in the UK.”
Farrell got involved with All Together Now when a producer got in contact with her.
“One of the producers was stalking the internet to find people in music industry who were different,” Farrell said.
“I’m the only central Victorian judge, I’m the only Irish judge and I’m the only singing celebrant on the show.
“It has been an amazing experience that came out of nowhere. There are a lot of big personalities judging and I thought it would be full on being in a room with them all but a lot of us are really close now.”
Having auditioned on a TV talent show before, Farrell could relate to what the hopefuls were going through.
“The experience to be there and be judged – I remember how daunting that was,” she said,
“In this show, someone comes out and they get one chance. What you see on the screen is what happened.
“The get up and sing their song. If I liked it, I hit my buzzer but the real aims was getting (all 100 judges) joining in and singing. It's a good concept.”
Hosted by Julia Zemiro and featuring Ronan Keating, All Together Now airs on Sunday, October 7, at 7pm on Channel 7.
