Adam Margolis appeared at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court by video link on Wednesday.
He is charged with murdering a 20-year-old woman at a home in California Gully sometime between February 24 and 25.
Mr Margolis said he was in the process of transferring to new lawyers.
At his previous court appearance, Mr Margolis was granted permission to access electronic files he said were necessary for his defence.
The prosecutor told the court on Wednesday that the prison at which Mr Margolis was in custody was taking steps to provide the technology that would allow him to access those files.
She said there was also work under way to provide access to other requested materials.
Mr Margolis will again appear in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court later this month.
