The event encourages people to be conscious of their health and animal welfare by promoting vegetarian and vegan diets.
The Great Stupa marketing and events coordinator Alyce Crosbie said the event would help people become more conscious about their food choices.
“Going to a vegetarian or vegan diet highlights the importance of where food comes from and promotes a healthy lifestyle,” Ms Crosbie said.
The festival will include market stalls with a dining area, cooking demonstrations, yoga demonstrations, dog training tips, mindfulness activities, live music, health and wellness activities, and information stalls on animal welfare.
There will be a designated family-friendly area where children can have their face painted, and enjoy arts and crafts.
The Vegecareian Festival is free entry (for your pet too) and will be held at The Great Stupa located at 25 Sandhurst Town Road, Myers Flat on Saturday October 6 from from 10am – 3pm.
The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is a non-profit organisation. It is the biggest Buddhist Stupa outside of Asia and home to the largest gem quality Jade Buddha in the world.
