A Golden Gully man has been charged with separate assault related matters after the car he was allegedly driving crashed into a house.
Emergency services responded after a car struck a house on Golden Gully Road just before 9pm on Wednesday night. Both the car and the house caught on fire.
A number of occupants managed to escape the house unharmed while the 43 year-old driver allegedly fled.
He later returned to the scene where he was arrested.
He was then taken to hospital for assessment, and will be interviewed at a later time about the crash.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Golden Gully Road is now open in both directions after an incident where a car crashed into a house, setting it alight.
Wednesday:
Emergency services are at an incident in Golden Gully, where a car has crashed into a house and set it alight.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said police responded to reports of a car into a house on Golden Gully Road just after 9pm, where the car and the house caught fire.
A number of occupants managed to get out of the house but at this stage one person is possibly still unaccounted for, she said.
The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
Police, paramedics, CFA and SES are all on scene.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics attended the scene following reports a car had crashed into a house.
Paramedics have assessed one person but no further details are available.
It is currently unclear how many people were involved in the incident.
Golden Gully road is closed in both directions near the intersection of Adelaide Gully Road.
