Rhys Hamilton, 28, was convicted and fined $1500 in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on fail to answer bail and driving charges.
Hamilton had been charged in relation to the theft of $14 of meat from a Coles supermarket in December 2015.
Yesterday, he escaped conviction for this offence and was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
Hamilton was also caught driving in January 2015 while disqualified and in an unregistered vehicle.
Magistrate Tim Bourke said the matters should have been dealt with years ago.
“You’ve no idea of the frustration it causes, Mr Hamilton,” Mr Bourke said, speaking of the impact on court and police resources.
