OLIVIA McEvoy has capped a premiership season with Bendigo Thunder by being a runaway winner of the club’s best and fairest award.
McEvoy polled 60 votes for the Thunder’s NFLW team, to finish 20 clear of runner-up Kodi Jacques, with Bella Ayre third on 37.
Carly Ladson (27) and full forward Andrea Walsh (23) rounded out the top five ahead of Abbey Hay on 21.
Her win ended an amazing sporting run for McEvoy, who also experienced premiership glory on the netball court with North Central association club Wycheproof-Narraport.
The star midcourter, who also played in a grand final for her Heathcote District league club Colbinabbin, was best on court for the Demons in their drought-breaking North Central flag win over Donald.
She was one of seven Thunder players named in the NFLW team of the year, alongside team-mates Jacques, Ayre, who finished third in the league best and fairest, the competition’s leading goalkicker Walsh, Grace Edlin, Louise Bibby and Billie Humphrey.
Meanwhile, Sarah Moerke won the best and fairest for the Thunder’s Central Victorian Women’s Football League team.
Moerke polled 31 votes to claim the award from runner-up Ruby Campbell (25).
Ebony Whiley (24), Chloe Vella and Beppina Marshall (15) finished third through fifth.
The Thunder’s CVWFL team also finished the season as premiers following a win over Strathfieldsaye.
The awards were announced at the club’s presentation night on Saturday at Silks Function Centre at Bendigo Jockey Club
