A man who allegedly stole almost $10,000 worth of goods and cash in a string of burglaries at Bendigo businesses over a seven-month period appeared briefly in court on Thursday.

Thomas Towle, 47, is facing 42 charges in the Bendigo Magistrates Court, including 16 charges of attempted burglary, 11 charges of trespass with intent to steal, 16 theft charges and two charges of dishonestly undertake in the retention of stolen goods, among others.
Charge sheets indicate the alleged offending began on February 6, when Towle entered a Bendigo business and stole $3000 in cash.
In March, Towle allegedly stole a mountain bike valued at $850, before stealing power tools valued a $300 from a California Gully business in July.
Towle is also accused of stealing cash from, and attempting to burgle, a number of businesses in Eaglehawk in July, including the alleged theft of cash, a mobile phone and an Ipad valued at $2500 from a property in the suburb on July 28-29.
Police allege in August, Towle stole cash and a various other items from seven separate businesses in Eaglehawk over a two-week period.
Towle appeared via video link for his hearing where his legal counsel Jacob Mildren sought an adjournment to November 1.
The request was granted by magistrate Sarah Leighfield.
