Filo, who first played senior football with Eaglehawk in the Bendigo league, added the Ovens and Murray’s coveted Morris Medal to his collection on Monday night after a stellar season with the Wodonga Raiders.
Filo, known for his freakish skills, won the medal with 25 votes, but the league has sought an apology from him after his drunken conduct at the presentation night.
Filo’s medal victory came a day after Wodonga Raiders’ season came to an end with a 30-point loss to Wangaratta in the preliminary final.

“The player let himself down, Wodonga Raiders Football Club and the Ovens and Murray league,” league chairman David Sinclair told the Border Mail.
“Although Brodie did not swear or speak inappropriately during his acceptance his exit from the presentation was a disappointing finish to a fantastic night.”
According to the Border Mail, Filo jumped from the stage after being presented with his medal and then tripped and fell near invited guests and sponsors on his return to his table.
Late Thursday a statement of apology from Filo was published on the Border Mail website.
“I have had the last few days to reflect on my behaviour and I feel deeply embarrassed, as I should be a leader at my club and want to be somebody that can be looked up to,” he said.
“I love being a part of the Raiders and the Ovens and Murray and feel very lucky to have the support I have around the football club.
“I will be doing everything I can moving forward to ensure that this does not happen again.
“I will be contacting the Ovens and Murray to forward my apologies to them.”
Filo was the winner of the Bendigo league’s Michelsen Medal in 2015 when he polled 17 votes, while he was also the winner of the Northern Territory’s Nichols Medal in 2016.
“It does mean a lot winning individual awards, but I’d rather be playing next weekend for a grand final,” Filo said in his speech on Monday night.
