Mid-Loddon groundwater users will have a maximum annual allocation of 100 per cent, as will all management zones except Newlyn and Blampied in the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area.
Goulburn-Murray Water has announced allocations of 75 per cent for both Blampied and Newlyn.
Maximum annual allocations of 100 per cent were allocated to Ullina, Talbot, Ascot, Mollongghip and Waubra management zones.
“GMW will continue to monitor groundwater levels during spring and advise if there is sufficient recovery to further increase allocations in the Blampied or Newlyn zones,” GMW customer operations general manager Scott Barber said.
“Customers will receive a letter notifying them of any increase in allocations.”
The Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area extends from Maryborough and Dunolly in the north to Newlyn, Learmonth and Waubra in the south, and encompasses about 170 licenced groundwater users.
The Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area spans from Calivil and Mitiamo in the north to Moolort in the south and includes the towns of Newbridge, Bridgewater, Raywood and Serpentine.
Mr Barber said the full groundwater allocation in the Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area provided some certainty to customers relying on allocations for the 2018/19 irrigation season.
He said the allocations were determined in accordance with the Mid-Loddon Groundwater Management Area Local Management Rules endorsed by GMW in 2009.
In the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area, the allocations were determined based on last month’s groundwater readings and the area’s Groundwater Management Plan, which was approved by the Minister for Water in November 2012.
