Motorists are advised that lanes will narrow and lower speed limits will be in place on the Northern Highway when roadworks get under way near Bamawm this week.
Single traffic lanes will be reduced to 3.2 metres wide in each direction with minimal shoulder width, and there will be a temporary maximum width of 7 metres from Wednesday, September 19 to October 31.
The speed limit will be set at 40 km/h at the site.
Vehicles that need to use the full 7-metre width will require assistance from the traffic controllers on site.
The roadworks will see a new overtaking lane constructed on the highway.
VicRoads advises that the works are weather-dependent, so the dates during which the work is expected to take place could change.
