It was closed for a short time on Friday afternoon as members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit investigated a crash that left three people injured on Thursday afternoon.
EARLIER: The southbound lanes of the Calder Freeway are closed between Macedon and Gisborne on Friday afternoon as police investigate the circumstances of a serious crash involving a Bendigo woman.
Members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene just north of Station Road, where on Thursday afternoon a B-double ran into the rear of a Toyota hatchback and Ford ute in a roadworks zone.
The freeway’s southbound lanes are closed between Black Forest Road at Macedon and Station Road at Gisborne.
Senior Sergeant Paul Cliffe, from Gisborne police, said the lanes were closed shortly before 1.45pm and it was hoped they would not remain closed for longer than two hours in total.
A 26-year-old Bendigo woman was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with serious, non life-threatening injuries following the crash about 3.45pm Thursday.
She was the driver of the hatchback and her passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Mill Park, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The 39-year-old male driver of the ute was also taken to hospital, having sustained non life-threatening injuries.
The 32-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured and stopped to help at the scene.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
