‘Artivisms Now’ is curated by Brigid Hansen, the inaugural recipient of La Trobe Art Institute’s Emerging Curators Program which provides a mentoring experience for new curators. Brigid was selected from 32 applicants from across Australia.
‘Artivisms Now’ presents five emerging contemporary artists who explore marginalised experience and humour through their work.
‘Chart Form’ celebrates the visual language of data and systems presenting the work of four artists who evoke flow charts and process maps, from Dylan Martorell’s graphical music scores charting plant growth to Yuria Okamura’s diagrammatic drawings that map and reconfigure geometric patterns and symbols that reference esoteric symbolism, occult diagrams, religious architecture and decoration.
‘Artivisms Now’ and ‘Chart Form’ open at LAI on September 20, 5.30-7pm in a free event.
