A host of comic and graphic novel artists will join pop culture fans at Bendi-Con on September 23. Bendi-Con is the re-branded pop culture arm of the Bendigo Record Comic and Toy Fair. It will feature more than 100 tables of pop culture as well as 20 artists in the “Artists Alley” and over a dozen fan groups. Chris Kennett (Star Wars Golden Books) will be running a drawing workshop for kid, Dean Rankine (The Simpsons, Hellboy, Rick and Morty) will make his first appearance at Bendi-Con and Ryan K Lindsay will show off his original comic creations Eternal, Negative Space and Beautiful Canvas. Fan groups including Bendigo and Victorian Doctor Who clubs, The R2 Builders Club, Bendigo Cosplayers, The Rebel Legion Hoth Base Star Wars cosplayers, The Bendigo Lego Group, The New Melbourne Browncoats Firefly fangroup and the Victorian Disc Worldklatch Terry Pratchett fanclub will also be on hand for the Bendigo Cosplay Contest. The cosplay contest will see the best costume on display and awarded prizes. It will also raise money for the Peter MacCallum Foundation. Bendigo-Con 2018 is at the Bendigo Expo Centre at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds on September 23 from 10am to 4pm. Entry is $10 and free for children under 12.
