Minister for Equality Martin Foley made the announcement on Thursday saying LGBTI equality was a statewide issue.
“(The Roadshow) has visited more than 29 different regional communities and and more than 2500 participants and events in the last two years. It has been a roaring success,” he said.
“But it has also shown there is more work to do. The state government wants to deliver on its commitments to equality and fairness no matter who you are or where you in Victoria.
“Everyone has the right to be who you are and express who you are.”
Led by Victoria’s first Commissioner for Gender and Sexuality, Ro Allen, the Roadshow hosted 180 engagement activities and generated cultural and systemic changes in the broader community by creating inclusion plans and incorporating LGBTI communities into local diversity plans.
The new funding will help the LGBTI Roadshow enter its next stage which includes consultation with communities to help design a number of community led initiatives.
