COLBINABBIN completed a near flawless Heathcote District league reserves season with a commanding grand final win over White Hills.
The Grasshoppers cruised to a comfortable 47-point victory over the Demons to cap a season in which they won 17 of their 18 games.
Colbinabbin kicked 12 goals to three after quarter-time to triumph 13.10 (88) to 5.11 (41) and win its second flag in four years.
The best-on-ground medal was won by Grasshoppers co-coach Hugh Barlow, who savoured his first premiership with the club.
“It’s a really good feeling. I’ve played footy all my life at Colbo and never made it this far before,” Barlow said.
“All the boys came together really well and it has just all worked for us. We’ve come in with a full list to pick from and that goes a long way.”
The Grasshoppers had trailed by five points at quarter-time, but took a stranglehold on the contest with a six-goal to one second term.
Colbinabbin key forward Sam Hill kicked three of his four goals for the match during the second quarter.
The Grasshoppers also had Stephen Tuohey, one of his side’s best, slot four goals.
Of the six best named for the Grasshoppers, four were from the Hill clan – Tom, Tim, Lucas and Sam.
The grand final was the third in a row for White Hills – and a seventh in the past eight years – but a second-straight defeat.
Josh Hopkins, Matthew Roberts and Leigh Coates were best for the Demons, who were the only team to beat Colbinabbin for the year in round 16.
