Tom Metcalf, 22, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with multiple counts of trafficking a drug of dependence and other charges.
The Central Victoria Response Unit raided Metcalf’s residence on Golden Hill Court at 6.30am, where he was the sole occupant.
The court was told they found 40 ecstasy pills in Metcalf’s car and a total of two grams of ice, scales and tick sheets in his lounge room.
Seven cannabis plants were laying on top of an air conditioning unit in the backyard with their roots still attached.
A total of 11.4 grams of cocaine was found in several bags throughout the house, along with .4 grams of a powder suspected to be heroin.
A safe in Metcalf’s car contained 22.3 grams of amphetamine.
A booklet which detailed how to make meth was found alongside a bag which contained a number of ingredients needed for the process, including key ingredient pseudoephedrine.
Two motorised scooters were found at the property, both of which had been painted over and their identifying features – including VIN numbers – had been removed.
Police allege both scooters had been stolen.
Power tools allegedly stolen from an Ascot address on August 15 were also found, along with other tools with markings for businesses as well as Powercor.
The total value of the tools was over $5000.
Police found 73 shotgun cartridges in the lounge room and a taser disguised as a flashlight.
Three double-edged swords, a double-edged machete, a switchblade knife and a double-edged ornamental sword in a wooden sheath were also found at the property, allegedly belonging to Metcalf.
CCTV cameras had been set up around the property, saving footage on an external hard drive which had Metcalf’s login details. He allegedly refused to provide police with the code to unlock an iPad found at the premises.
Metcalf’s mobile phone allegedly contained messages relating to drug trafficking.
He appeared by video link in court where he applied for bail, which was opposed by police.
Metcalf told the court he was trying to “get on the straight and narrow”.
“I didn’t have any intention to hurt anyone,” he said.
“I realise now it’s stupid.
“I’m happy to do drug screening.”
Magistrate Megan Aumair refused bail. Metcalf will appear in court at a later date.
