The choir, made up largely of senior citizen singers and Girton Grammar student musicians, will perform with Australian singer Kate Cebrano at Ulumbarra on September 18.
The annual concert is a popular event with this year’s theme consisting of songs about love, lust and longing.
“The choir is so important for us,” Forever Young founder and director Laura Dusseljee said.
“The students love playing for the singers – they learn so much about getting up and doing something that may be uncomfortable – and the singers admire the students’ musical prowess.
“Kate Cebrano is a fabulous guest star to perform with. We will sing some of her beautiful songs along with rocks songs about love, lust and longing.”
Forever Young began in 2011 and has previously performed with Normie Rowe, Wilbur Wilde and Mark Seymour as part of their annual concert.
“Normie Rowe was our first guest star. He was amazing in sending us his music and opening a lot of possibilities for us,” Ms Dusseljee said.
“But the celebrities don’t always understand what they're walking into.
‘They often have no idea of the level of the students’ ability – they are wonderful musicians – and (the guest stars) are often are blown away by the arrangements, the quality of playing and the commitment of the oldies as we call them.”
Choir members Paul Gladman and Annie Young said the social side of the choir was just as fun as the singing.
“It’s absolutely wonderful,” Ms Young said. “It’s the one appointment none of us miss. Even through the winter months we're always here.”
Mr Gladman said he and a friend were looking for a choir to join and found Forever Young.
“We came along and what we got was unexpected,” he said. “The best part is the group of people we're singing with and, on top of that, getting to see the students play is magic.”
