A SECOND Heathcote District Football-Netball League investigation has been launched in less than a week following last Saturday’s reserves preliminary final.
HDFNL chairman Peter Cole confirmed on Wednesday that White Hills had requested and paid the required $500 for an investigation that the Bendigo Advertiser understands relates to high contact made by North Bendigo coach Cameron Lomas off the ball to the Demons’ Brent Hamblin late in the reserves game.
The Demons requesting the investigation into an incident involving a North Bendigo player comes after the Bulldogs themselves had only just sought an investigation.
Last Saturday’s preliminary final came a day after it was confirmed North Bendigo had requested an investigation from the previous week’s senior second semi-final that involves Leitchville-Gunbower’s Jack Gleeson and an incident with the Bulldogs’ Mani Thalasinos.
White Hills won the reserves preliminary final by 31 points and will now meet Colbinabbin in the grand final at Huntly this Saturday.
The reserves game is one of only two games that will be different to last year’s grand final match-ups.
The other is the under-15 netball game, also between White Hills and Colbinabbin.
All other seven grand finals are the same match-ups as last year’s premiership battles.
In the senior football it’s the fourth year in a row Leitchville-Gunbower and North Bendigo have played off the flag – the first such match-up since Mount Pleasant and Heathcote contested four-straight grand finals between 1992 and 1995.
In the A Grade netball White Hills and Colbinabbin are meeting for the third-straight year.
