DUSTIN Martin will create a piece of Richmond history on Thursday night when he sets a new club record for the quickest player to 200 games.
Martin – a former Campbells Creek, Castlemaine and Bendigo Pioneer player – will play game 200 for the Tigers in their AFL qualifying final against Hawthorn at the MCG.
The 27-year-old’s 200th game comes eight years and five months after he made his debut for the Tigers in late March of 2010 in what was a 56-point loss to Carlton.
Since then Martin has packed plenty into his career, including the trifecta of the Brownlow Medal, Norm Smith Medal and premiership last year.
He will become the 10th draftee from the Bendigo Pioneers to play 200 games.
• Bendigo Pioneer draftees in 200-game club:
322 – Nick Dal Santo
271* – Joel Selwood
268 – Chris Tarrant
255 – Brent Guerra
228 – Michael Braun
219 – Nathan Brown
212 – Josh Hunt
209 – Dean Solomon
202 – Andrew Walker
