Which part of this wide brown land can lay claim to the best tasting tap water?
That question will soon be decided as water authorities pit themselves against each other.
Heats in Bendigo will be decided on Wednesday, with Victoria’s best drop to represent the state in Toowoomba, Queensland, later this year.
Water samples will be judged on a range of qualities including colour, clarity, odour and mouthfeel during blind taste tests.
Story continues below poll.
The winner of the Ixom 2018 Best Tasting Tap Water competition will have bragging rights for the next 12 months.
They will also go on to represent Australia at the annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition held in West Virginia, USA.
While the competition itself is all in the spirit of good fun there is a meaningful undertone to it, recognising the hard work of those who ensure safe, clean drinking water is available every day.
The Water Industry Operators Association of Australia is hosting the competition.
