AN incident early in last Saturday’s Heathcote District league second semi-final will be investigated following a request by North Bendigo.
The Bendigo Advertiser understands the incident is from the opening minute of the game and involves Leitchville-Gunbower key on-baller Jack Gleeson and high contact made to North Bendigo’s Mani Thalasinos off the ball.
North Bendigo made the investigation request and paid the required $500 after it received vision of the game on Thursday.
“We believe that having seen footage of the incident it requires an investigation, which we’ve put through and we’ll allow the process to take place,” North Bendigo president Greg Noonan said on Friday.
“We’ll let the investigation officer now take on the role of what needs to be done.”
The investigation will take place in the lead-up to the HDFNL grand final in which the Bombers have already qualified for after their four-point win over the Bulldogs.

However, it could also stretch beyond the grand final given the appointed investigator has 10 working days in which to determine if there is a case to be heard by the tribunal.
HDFNL chairman Peter Cole said the league became aware of the potential for North Bendigo’s investigation request on Thursday afternoon.

“In a perfect world it would have been nice to have this dealt with this week, but because of the lateness of the request and the availability of the investigation officer, we’re in his hands,” Cole said.
“Ideally, we’ll have it dealt with before the grand final next week, but we’ll be guided by whatever is appropriate by the investigation officer, who is a separate and independent person to the league.
“We will let the proper process take its course.”
The HDFNL finals continue on Saturday with preliminary final day at Toolleen, with the senior match featuring North Bendigo and Colbinabbin.
