The squad aims to bring together a team of junior girls on a regular basis to train and improve their tennis skills.
The squad, which features 12 players, was launched earlier this month by City of Greater Bendigo mayor Margaret O’Rourke and will train together until late October under the guidance of head coach Brianna Smith and assistant coach Stephen Storer.
The final session of the program will coincide with the semi-finals of the Bendigo International pro tour event on Saturday, October 27, while a trip to Melbourne Park is also planned for the participants.
Eight 90-minute training sessions at the newly developed Bendigo Tennis Club will be held as part of the program, which is supported by both Tennis Victoria and Tennis Australia.
