Police said the Bendigo driver was travelling east towards Terang.
A concerned driver called 000 about midday on Sunday and reported the behaviour. Mortlake police intercepted the man who recorded a positive reading of 0.226.
Terang police Sergeant Danny Brown said the reading was “concerningly high”.
“The high reading coincided with his erratic driving. It is lucky that no-one was injured as a result,” he said.
“Mortlake police did a great job to intercept the driver so quickly.
“It goes to show that if you ring 000, the next available officer will be sent. In this instance, a Mortlake member was in Terang at the time of the call and it meant the driver was caught quickly.”
The offender’s vehicle was immediately impounded, his licence was suspended and he is expected to be charged on summons.
In an unrelated incident, a section of the Princes Highway east of Terang was closed for about an hour-and-a-half on Monday after a boat disconnected from a truck.
