The 22-year-old fired a blistering 29 on the final nine holes to finish the tournament at 11 under-par, three shots behind English winner Paul Waring.
Herbert ended the Masters with rounds of 66, 68, 69 and 66 to earn 63,000 Euro.
His lofty position on the leaderboard has earned Herbert entry into this week’s Czech Masters in Prague.
A stellar finish in Sweden has elevated into 98th position in the Race to Dubai series.
The top 10 players after the Portugal Masters will earn automatic European Tour cards for next year.
His top-five finish in Sweden followed a top-30 finish at the recent Porsche European Open and top-20 placing at the Fiji International for Herbert, who this year made his Open Championship debut at Carnoustie in July.
Herbert paid tribute to Jarrod Lyle with ‘Leuk the Duck’ sitting atop his driver during the tournament, played at the Hills Golf Club in Gothenburg.
Lyle, 36, lost his long battle with cancer earlier this month.
