The bureau says the low temperatures are expected in parts of the Northern Country and North Central districts, as well as parts of the Mallee and Wimmera.
Forecasts on Sunday afternoon put the expected low for Bendigo, Redesdale, Castlemaine, Maryborough and Kyneton on Monday morning at -1 degree, while the mercury is expected to fall to 0 in Echuca.
But the bureau notes that temperatures at ground level can be lower than those recorded by standard weather stations, especially in clear, calm conditions.
Bendigo’s low during daytime hours on Saturday was 4.7 degrees at 3.18pm, but the ‘feels like’ temperature was an icy -3.5 degrees.
Meanwhile, more snow is possible at Mount Macedon late on Sunday afternoon and early in the evening.
The area experienced snow on Saturday and awoke to a blanket of the white stuff on Sunday morning.
