In a game plagued by inaccuracy from both teams, the Thunder defeated the VU Western Spurs 4.7 (31) to 1.9 (15) in the preliminary final at Preston City Oval.
The victory sets up a grand final showdown next Sunday afternoon against Keilor, also at Preston City Oval.
“It was a scrappy game in windy conditions and both teams struggled to take control and convert opportunities,” Thunder coach Luis Avarez-Harris said.
“We won ugly, but we have given ourselves a chance at a premiership and that’s exciting for everyone at the club.
“We know Keilor is a strong team and will go in favourites, but we’ll back ourselves to get the job done.”
